Developed in 1944 for the US Navy, the N-1 deck jacket is truly an icon.
Made from hard-wearing 'jungle cloth' - or cotton 'Bedford' cord - and originally lined with Alpaca, the N-1 offered protection from the elements in style. It took over from its navy blue forerunner and became one of the most popular garments ever issued and many sailors continued to wear theirs into civilian life.
This reproduction jacket, by Pike Brothers, is lined with more sustainable wool, but other details have been faithfully reproduced, from its authentic cut, knitted cuffs and draw-string waist to the chin strap, label detail and Talon zipper.
This version, in olive as issued post-WWII, has three layers of wax which makes the jacket almost waterproof and will develop a beautiful patina over time.
